12.7.2014 From Kath and Ted Saanich to Gabriola

My name is Kath Murray. I am Barbs sister. the past five days we have been on the boat with Barb and Svend. What a treat to be with them.  How incredible how they have arranged the boat exchanges to visit this part of the world - like a turtle with their home on their backs!

We joined them at the North Saanich marina.... after they found our car under the fallen tree.

We did not know what the weather would be like, so we overpacked... Not only did we overpack, but we put all our stuff inside IKEA bags. Now, this may not sound significant... but if you invite someone on your boat, suggest they bring their treasures in a bag that is quiet to open and close.. These bags sound very noisy when trying to move around quietly! Otherwise, living on this beautiful boat feels so decadent and wonderful that I have no tips from a newcomers perspective.

The trip to Maple Bay was beautiful. So incredible to see the islands from the ocean. so many trees. So much land that looks pristine and green.

Barb and I went for a swim off the docks that night... wonderful swim.  And each day we have had a wonderful swim.

The trip to Wallace Island and then to Gabriola Island was also new and beautiful to me.
And most special of all, the times together to talk, swim, eat, kayak, and talk some more.

Thanks so much to Barb and Svend, and to Al and Cathy for sharing their boat.

Hugs and thanks,
Kath and Ted
